Had a wonderful time last night, meeting up at the Frederick Borders with some Ravelry folk. It's really inspiring to see what everyone else is working on, and to chat fiber without anyone getting tired and wanting to change the subject!
In other fiber-y news, I finished my first sweater! It's from Saturday Sweaters, and is SO comfy. I received the yarn in trade for knitting some felted bags for my LYS, and then only had to buy ONE ball in order to have enough to make the sleeves the right length.
I'm just about done with my first lace, out of my first handspun (of any significatn amount, that is):
Finally, I'm working (as always) on a pair of socks. It's my Plain Ol' Socks pattern -sort of a mix of the "best of" the basic online patterns. This pair is in a sage green Fixation, which should be very comfy and soft and stretchy.
I'm really, really, really enjoying my fall knitting.
I've finally got some fiber-related stuff to post! I finished a simple pair of purple socks, made from Fixation, so they're a bit stretchy and very comfy. I'm currently beginning the second sock of my next pair, in a colorway I really love... I think I'll wear it a lot with jeans in the fall. I remembered to do the band on a smaller needle, so they'll fit a little more snugly. The first sock is a perfect fit, and I got the stripes to match, at least so far!
Found some new podcasts, and am entering a contest to win Tofutsies sock yarn from Socks in the City. Yum! By the way, if you're interested in sock knitting at all, this is a totally fun and informative podcast. Check it out!
Here's my entry -
Tofutsies, the wonderful sock yarn
I'd love to give yours a try
I saw it last week at Sheep & Wool
But had no money to buy
I've only begun to knit
socks for my toesies to wear
I tried just a left one, then let it sit
while my right foot spent months being bare
This spring I picked up the sticks
To give the right foot a go
Lo and behold, I loved loved loved it!
And zipped from my ankle to toe
I'm just a simple sock knitter
Nothing too fancy for me
I'm busy with four girls, homeschooling them all
So not much of my time is free
But socks! How quick! How fancy! How fun!
My new-found passion is found
Click click click and two are complete
Bare feet no more touching the ground
So now I'm exploring my options
What other quick yarns can I try?
Ah Tofutsies, I met it last week,
But shamefully passed up the buy
Would you honor me with a win?
I would knit up socks in your name
I'll even step up and try something harder
If you'll help me strengthen my game
Tofutsies, your softness will pass by my hands
As I thankfully knit through my days
Socks fly from my needles down to my feet
While Socks in the City 'cast plays!
I started a Vox Group called Spinning, not because I'm any great spinner, but simply because there wasn't a spinning group yet, and there should be.
If you spin, and want to join, please do so! It's lonely by myself :-)
I was so proud of myself today. Instead of going to my LYS and purchasing the long-coveted Denise Needles, I stopped by DH's office to run the idea by him. I have yarn for a sweater, and finally chose a pattern, and don't have the right needle size in the called-for length. Rather than purchase a couple pair of needles for just one project, I wanted to bump up the cost and get the Denise set... but it would mean I could stop buying individual project needles, since I'm pretty well stocked in the most common sizes.
DH said yes!!! Yay! So off to the LYS I went... and they're out of stock until next week :-( She'll call me as soon as they arrive, but it's just not quite the same...
This is the latest in my spinning… a rather fine single of blue something - not sure what the fiber is. I like it! I think it’s going to turn into Fetching handwarmers.
What kind of yarn are you?

You are Merino Wool. You are very easygoing and sweet. People like to keep you close because you are so softhearted. You love to be comfortable and warm from your head to your toes.
