Please note...
I will not be posting on LJ any longer. Please visit PaperYarnGirl to keep up with current posts. It's very easy to post on Vox, but the readers are at my regular blog. Thanks!
I currently update three blogs each time I post... Vox, LiveJournal, and MalegraBlogs on my own site. I usually start in Vox, because it's SO easy to add pictures from Flickr. I then copy it to LJ, because that's easy to do as well, and there are some friends in that community. But my "real" site is the MalegraBlogs, so I post it there as well.
Do you read this? On which blog? If you do, please leave me a comment. I'm going to down-size to one blog, but I'm not sure which one is the best to continue. Thanks for your help!
Whew! I’ve spent the week moving the grahlfamily.com site, and then trying to get the blog to work again. I stupidly moved the site before I downloaded the RSS feed for all the old posts. So while I could see the old posts, I had a heck of a time actually getting them downloaded and imported correctly. But, as you can see, I did it!
Latest news:
1. Went to International Toy Fair in New York for the third time. Had a blast, saw lots of neat things at the show. Ate some wonderful meals, visited American Girl Place and Times Square.
2. Am leaving next week for NSSEA (educational supply expo) in Atlanta. It will be warmer there than it was in New York! Plus, I get to visit Knitch.
3. We’re looking foward to Wayne Jacobsen’s visit in a couple of weeks. Not only will we get to see him, but we’ll visit with other like-minded folks in the area. We met several folks last year, and really enjoyed our fellowship with them.
4. The girls are doing well. They’re all involved in various books and projects and art and music. Emilee’s really getting good on the guitar. Rachel has been reading, really reading. Katie plows through more books, and has been constructing doll furniture. Becky’s vocabulary has grown exponentially, and she uses every opportunity to chat as much as possible. They are really a joy, for the most part (a few rough patches with me being gone, but I can’t complain).
5. Haven’t done any spinning, as I’ve been busy with work projects. But I’m working on a sweater, my first one that really has any shape or pattern to it. I’ll post pics as I move further along with it.
6. Our family lost a dear young friend this week. Jessie was the youngest of four beautiful girls, from a family who we’ve known for probably 15 years. I taught their girls piano, they babysat my girls when they were younger, we spent many hours together in church in years past, and we have remained friends since. Jessie died this week in a car accident near her home. The news was terribly sad for my girls, and has made us all feel incredibly mortal. I know she is at peace with Jesus and yet, it’s been a very difficult time for us.
YAY! Vox finally allows you to upload your own banner. Since I've emailed them repeatedly with no response about activating the Beads Love banner that is SO perfect for PaperYarnGirl, I've uploaded it myself. Isn't it perfect?
I spent Sunday in my jammies, doing nothing but watching TV, knitting, and spinning. I watched House, West Wing, The Office, and The Illusionist. I'm working on the self-striping socks... finished one sock, and am ready to start the gusset for the second one.
I also pulled out the spinning wheel and got a lot more of the mystery blue spun up. Plyed it tonight (navajo), while I was watching the Golden Globes. It's a nice-sized hank of yarn! It's ending up to be mostly worsted weight, I think. It's soaking right now to set the twist, and then I'll let it dry and get some FO pics.
Work is moving along. It'll be busy in a week or so, as game nights begin again, and we start shipping several thousand packets of coupons to the schools in ten school systems. But for this week, it's nice to take a break and work on some ME projects for a change, for longer than just a few 20-minutes pops in a week.
